Jim Drummond’s Latest Rant!
Bug Out Bag
By Jim Drummond
You hear a lot of speak these days about Bug Out Bags, otherwise known as 72 Hour Survival Kits. They are meant for exactly what the name refers. During a Natural or Man-Made disaster you may be forced to Bug Out or leave you home and you will need to be able to quickly grab a well put together and thought out kit that will sustain you for a 72 hour period.
Why a 72 Hour Period? Well, that is considered to be the most crucial time after a disaster has struck. You may be on your own and have to rely solely on yourself and the contents of your Bug Out Bag. Your home may not be a safe place to stay and you may have to flee in a moment’s notice. You will not have the time to gather what you think you need in an emergency situation. Just thinking clearly may be hard to do in a panicked state, much less knowing what all you will need to help you to survive.
I have outlined the major components that should exist in your Bug Out Bag below. Keep in mind that you may want to add a few things to your kit. These are the essentials though.
-
1. Food and Water
-
2. Light
-
3. Fire for warmth as well as boiling water, heating food etc.
-
4. Warmth and Shelter, thermal blankets, tents and warm clothing.
-
5. First Aid
-
6. Important Papers
-
7. Tools
-
8. Protection
This is a good starting place; number 8 Protection can be different things to different people. A gun is a wise choice, but you have to be comfortable handling a gun and not be a danger to yourself. Take a gun class that is offered in your community. Protection can also be Stun Guns, Pepper Spray etc. etc.
When it comes to Disaster Survival Preparation don’t stop with a Bug Out Bag, it may be weeks or months that you won’t be able to get Water, Food or any other items that you will need to survive for an extended period. Start putting away Water, Food and all other items that you will need. When you’re prepping for Disaster Survival, think in terms of Roughing it while out camping and completely shut off to the outside world. Because that is what it may be like but unlike camping for pleasure and enjoyment, your life depends on what you have put away and the preparation that you have done.

Taking The Time and Steps to be Prepared
Your Disaster Survival Course
By
Jim Drummond
I consider myself to be well versed in disaster survival skills and pride myself on my preparedness
for myself and family. I am very certain that if a disaster were to strike that
I would be able to provide everything that my family would need to
survive…both short term as well as long term. I know that a big disaster may
never happen but then again you never know.
You know the crazy thing is that we always think that it is going to be someone
else that will need help due to a natural disaster. Well that is not always the
case. Sometimes it isn’t the other guy, sometimes we are the ones in dire straits,
and the news is reporting about our devastation.
I would like to think that all families are ready for that disaster survival situation….but
I know all too well that they are not prepared. They have not sat down with
their loved ones and made a disaster survival plan. They have not saved and put away the things necessary for survival in
a terrible situation. Tragic….is the first word that comes to mind, because
they wouldn’t have what the needed to survive when and if the time came.
I know that with our busy schedules that it is hard to find the time to sit down
with the family and develop a disaster survival plan. When we do find the time
we use that time doing other things. That is where my Disaster Survival Crash
Course, comes into play. I have reduced the learning curve when it comes to
disaster survival to zero. I have condensed the hours that it would otherwise
take to gain your survival knowledge to a short step by step course.
I have also provided a pdf that you can download and read at your own pace. My
Disaster Survival Crash Course is in a two part video series, and very easy to
follow. It really makes Survival preparation simple. I would like to invite you
to Enroll for the FREE course.

SURVIVING
ECONOMIC COLLAPSE , By Jim Drummond
I know Devastation is a big word, it encompasses so many
things, but that is what comes to mind when
I think of what if……
What if the
US and World economy collapsed. Some experts have mentioned the US going back
into recession, I have even heard the word depression used.
So…What are
YOUR chances of SURVIVING ECONOMIC COLLAPSE?
First, a National panic would set in, if that were
the case. What would it be like you might ask? Well, I always go back in my
mind to events that have occurred in the past, and it wasn’t a pretty picture.
The store shelves at grocery stores became bare very quickly. You have to have
water and food to survive right? Those folks that don’t prepare ahead of time
are forced to rush the grocery stores in hopes of there being something left
when they get there. If not, then what, how will they feed their family?
I recall my Grandmother talking about and
telling us what it was like for them during the Great Depression. She had eight
brothers and sisters who were already roughing it so to speak, they all would
have to split a chicken for their supper. A lot of times they didn’t even have
that. Just think they were living like that before the Great Depression struck.
They were already at the bottom so they didn’t have far to fall. They were
survivors and fought for everything they had. They were also workers, back then
you worked or you didn’t eat. There weren’t any hand outs.
Let’s bring that picture forward to today,
what would it be like if that same Great Depression were to hit us in present
day 2011. I don’t think that people are as tough today as they were back then.
The majority of us are not used to roughing it, like my Grandparents did back
then. Heck if you take the TV, Computer, and Cell Phone away from us we feel
deep despair. Needless to say our lives would look very different, it would
become dog eat dog….or worse than that WROL (without rule of law). Ask yourself
what would I do and could I protect my family against outsiders that wanted
what we had to feed his own family.
It’s time to prepare if you haven’t started
already, The time has come, I hope you have done your due diligence and
gathered the very things that will save you and you loved ones lives. Because I
have, myself gotten ready, I can and will protect my loved ones. I hope that
you can say the same. Again, I ask
YOU! What are YOUR chances of SURVIVING
ECONOMIC COLLAPSE?
The Funny Thing About Survival!
So many things to talk about and discuss; it is a great time I would imagine to be a news reporter. I don’t think that you would ever run out of topics, and good ones at that!
I am very passionate about what I do for a living, and that gives me so many things that I can talk about, because it encompasses so many different aspects.
When one hears the word Survival they might think any of a number of things. It could be just surviving the day to day grind of making a living. It could mean surviving the stock market and I could go on and on.
But what about surviving a natural disaster or man-made disaster? That is what my mind goes to first when I think about Survival. I guess it is because it is my passion. In my day-to-day, I speak with many people from all walks of life. It doesn’t seem to matter the walk of life they are.
The two different responses I get from folks is either one of sarcasm; that nothing will ever happen to them, so why be prepared for a disaster.
They like to use terms like “Survival Expert”, or Conspiracy Theorists. They might say that emergency foods supply must be good for Survival Freaks. These nay sayers seem to be either in denial that anything bad will ever happen to them, or maybe they try to stay numb. If they don’t think about it nothing will happen!
Just the opposite of the nay sayers would be those who are very receptive that, maybe they do need to get prepared for a disaster, just in case. They are the ones who take action to ensure that when and if the time comes, they would rather be safe than sorry!
After all their loved ones will be depending on the preparations that they made to be survivors and not become a statistic.
There are so many good survival sites these days with great content, that there is really not any excuse for not being prepared for any Disaster. One of my favorite sites is http://modernsurvivalonline.com my friend Rourke does a fantastic job with great information. You can sign up for his Newsletter that is always a good read.

China hit by another Earthquake Disaster with a magnitude of 6.9.
I have been watching the Newest China Earthquake video with dismay and horror at the carnage.
The worst is watching a rescuer carrying a bloodied child from a demolished building. The heartbreaking images of hurt and killed children never get any easier to bear. With the towering pile of rubble behind where the child was just pulled from, one has to wonder how many more are in the rubble that never had a chance.
http://www.csmonitor.com/World/Asia-South-Central/2011/0919/6.9-magnitude-quake-a-wake-up-call-to-Nepal-video
They have performed studies on everything from Global Warming and Green House Gasses to Diet Pills, but the eight hundred pound gorilla sitting in the room has to be the increased magnitude as well as the increased frequency of not only earth quakes but other devastating storms that are occurring in places that were never thought possible.
Those of us that are noticing these things are asking ourselves why? What? And How? We are asking why these catastrophes are happening more frequently. We are asking what we can do to protect ourselves and loved ones, and how can we prepare for that worst case scenario? While we will never know why, we can take measures to be prepared for the next disaster. You can be determined to do everything in your power to be prepared. Don’t put off your family disaster survival plan! Don’t put off gathering the items that you will need to have ready when and if the time comes. Take action today!
There is no one that is out of reach of Disaster. Just ask those in Washington DC and up the East coast into Canada if they thought that they would ever have to endure an Earthquake, a month ago they would have said that you must be crazy. Now I bet they are more alert to the fact that they need to get themselves ready just in case. I guess the bottom line is an ounce of prevention and preparedness is worth a pound of cure.
